extra 50 bucks for the Flip MinoHD

The flip is a terrific gadget for shooting video in a fool proof manner. You should know that the HD version has taken a huge leap with regards to the quality of the video. With such a small and simple recorder, one has to expect a picture with a slight graininess. But, as David Pogue, a reviewer of tech gadgets for the NYtimes says, "the HD has taken the video quality of a small recorder to an amazing level of clarity." I am including a link to a terrific video sample of the Mino (pronounced "minnow") below from a site called Photodoto. The one point David made is the amazing ability of the Mino (both the HD and standard) to shoot in low light. I will include a link to David's NYT technology site, where he documented a trip to Italy and Egypt with his Mino HD. You can get a sense of how well it behaves in low light when he shoots inside the pyramids. The first link to Photodoto below contains a quite excellent sample video from an indoor conversation with the videographers little girl, to an outside walk to see how it performs in natural daylight. Photodoto is the most true to form. You will have to scroll down Photodoto's site to check out the Flip Mino HD video. Click on the nytimes link below Photodoto's to go to David Pogue's video at the NYTimes, which is more interesting regarding his review of the film as you are observing it, but loses some real quality as a result of the NYtimes site and how he had to post it.
